5th Grade Core Unit Projects

Mrs. Lebahn and the teacher work collaboratively on monthly book clubs- see attached list with photos. We have a celebration after each book is read independently at home.  The students participate in discussion questions in small and large groups and play games as they review each book. When finished, they celebrate with fun food related snacks that correlate with each book. She also assists with Black History Month, Explorers,  and a Holocaust Unit where students read Number the Stars & create beautiful Butterfly Poems that go with the book, “I Never Saw Another Butterfly.” (Children’s Drawings and Poems from Terezin Concentration Camp, 1942-1944). The 5th Graders also volunteer to help out Pre-K classes in the library.
